William Harold Snyder, Jr., 79, of Troy, IL., born April 15, 1930 in Maryville, MO., died November 24, 2009 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
Mr. Snyder had been employed by the U.S. government at Scott Air Force Base as an electrical engineer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and fought in the Korean War, and was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL. Bill was a member of Knights of Columbus, Troy, IL., and the 50 Plus Club. He loved woodworking and had made cradles for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed photography and computers. Most importantly, Bill loved his grandchildren and was their number one cheerleader at all sporting events.
Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by his parents William Harold and Mary Mildred (nee Trullinger) Snyder, Sr.; son, Michael Snyder; daughter, Marguerite Snyder, and brother-in-laws, James Martin and Al Edlund.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Louise (nee Ciotti) Snyder; daughters, Michelle (Richard) Cook of Huffman, TX., Mary Beth (Danny) Tracy of Marine, IL,, and Melissa (Darren) Hlava of Marine, IL.; brother, Richard (Peggy) Snyder of Godfrey, IL.; sisters Betty Martin of Tarkio, MO. and Norma Edlund of Salida, CO.; and grandchildren, Zackary, Brittany and Dustin Cook, Bailey, Hallie, Murphy, Samuel and Reiley Tracy, and Madalaina and Alexandra Hlava.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jerome Catholic Church or the Illinois Center for Autism.
Visitation will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL., on Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Monday, November 30, 2009 from 9 to 10 a.m.
Funeral services will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL., on Monday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Pat Jakel officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
