William H. “Bill” Schanuel, 98 of Glen Carbon, IL, born July 25, 1927, in East St. Louis, Il and passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2026, at his home.

Bill was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville, IL. He also attended and was active member at St. Paul’s Lutheran, Troy and Holy Cross Lutheran, Collinsville throughout the years. Bill loved singing in the choir and being an usher at church. He faithfully served many Christian organizations. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bill and Frances were active in the Lutheran Braille Workers for many years. He loved spending time with his many nieces and nephews and their families.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Frances M. (nee Tegtmeier) Schanuel; his parents, William H. and Lorene (nee Henn) Schanuel Sr.; and his sister, Norma L. Schneider; Sisters-in-law, Florence (Ernest) Hellmich, Wilma (William R.) Kelley; and his brother-in-law, Bernet “Bert” (Rose) Tegtmeier.

Bill is survived and loved by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.

Visitation for Bill will be 9 am to 10:30 am on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Edwardsville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. John Shank officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Maryville, IL.
