William H. Kueker, 77, of Troy, IL, born Friday, December 28, 1945 in East St. Louis, IL and passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
Bill was an active member of the Troy Volunteer Fire Department for 24 years from 1972 - 1996 and served as a Fireman, Captain and Assistant Fire Chief. During that time he was also an EMT with Laughlin Ambulance Service and served as Deputy Coroner for Madison County. He started his career in home construction as a member of Carpenters Union Local 295 and took great pride in the fact that he built their home of 56 years. He then started working at Standard Oil and Amoco Refinery/Chemical Additives from 1976 to 1995. During his years at Amoco, he served on the Amoco Fire Department and HAZMAT team. He later worked at Ace Hardware in Troy part-time for 10 years maintaining their rental equipment and always presenting customers with a smile. Bill attended Troy grade school and was a graduate of the Triad High School Class of 1965. He attended classes at Belleville Area College and participated in the Texas A & M Fire and HAZMAT Training Academy. Bill very much enjoyed the outdoors and was always ready for a camping, fishing or hunting trip. He attended St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, IL and even with his mobility obstacles continued to be active in his faith by attending masses at home on Sunday mornings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Josephine (nee Sartoris) Kueker; his brother Donald Kueker; and sister, Carol Kueker.
Surviving are his wife, Jane (nee Neudecker) Kueker; his three daughters, Carol (Dan Halterman) Kueker of Troy, IL, Julie (Bryan Barfield) Kueker of Highland, IL and Jill (Stephen) Shipp of Maplewood, MO; his granddaughter, Amelia Barfield and many friends.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, December 14, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, IL and 9 am to 10 am on Friday, December 15 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL.
Funeral services will be held 10 am Friday, December 15, 2023 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL with Fr. Kevin Laughery officiating. Interment will be in Friedens Cemetery, Troy, IL.
