William L. "Bill" Hellon, 71, of Troy, IL, born February 26, 1945, in Talladega, AL, died Saturday, June 4, 2016, in St. Louis, MO.

Bill attended St. Jerome Catholic Church. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict, member, Past Post Commander and Honor guard Detail of VFW Post 976 Troy, IL, Polish American War Veterans, American Legion Post 708, Troy, IL, Amvets, Knights of Columbus Council # 9266, Anderson Hospital Auxiliary where he drove the shuttle bus, enjoying meeting and helping the people he met. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying Cardinal Baseball, Blues Hockey, all NFL teams, NASCAR, Golf playing on several leagues. Bill took great pride in his lawn. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry E. and Maurine L. (nee Chappell) Hellon,; brother-in-laws Michael Bartlett and Clyde Williams.

Surviving are his cherished wife Angee Clark-Hellon of Troy, IL; he was the proud father of, Joe (Nicole) Hellon of St. Jacob, IL, Vicki (Jamie) Truetzschler of Bethalto, IL, Julie (Ryan) Shaw of Gillespie, IL, loving stepfather and friend to John-David Kirkpatrick of Highland, IL and Philip (Jeanette) Kirkpatrick of Chesterfield, MO; grandfather of, Kelsey (Brandon) Bean, Katie (Jake) Hughes, Kenna Lambert, Allie and Jake Truezschler, Savannah and Joe Jr. Hellon, Brody and Lyla Shaw; great-grandfather of, Blake Hughes and Jaxx Bean; Beloved "Pop" of Aidan, Kellan and Cooper Kirkpatrick; caring friend and "wing man" of his father-in-law Donald Clark and special friend to his mother-in-law Rosemary Clark, both of whom he greatly admired; step-son of, Betty Hellon; brother of, Pat Williams and Harry (Joan) Hellon; brother-in-law of Sally Bartlett, Don (Rhonda) Clark II and John (Kendra) Clark,; uncle of Adrienne, TJ and Daphne Fisk, Donald Clark III, Lillie, Rowan, Raven and Gabrielle Clark, Jackie, Jarrod,Marshall and Veronica Good, Sharon Armstrong, Mark (Suzette) Williams, Eddy (Christi)Hellon and Misty (Tommy) Warren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, IL and 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL

Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL, with Fr. Alan Hunter officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
