Obituary

Mr. Wilbert "Bill" Hubert, 71, of Troy, Illinois, born July 18, 1934 in Belleville, Illinois, departed this life Friday, April 7, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, Illinois. He was a member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church in Troy, Illinois.

Bill was employed by Snap-On Tools Corporation for 33 years. Prior to retiring, Bill managed the St. Louis branch of the company. He had also managed the Memphis, TN office for many years. After retiring Bill continued to work as a public/motivational speaker. His work as a public speaker took him to locations around the world. Bill graduated from Cathedral High School in Belleville and Ranken Technical College in St. Louis, MO. He served in the United States Army at which time he was in the military police stationed in Germany.

Bill was a 50-year Charter Member of the O'Fallon Knights of Columbus Council #4239. He was an active Knights of Columbus member and recently served as a trustee for the O'Fallon Council. Bill was also a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Pope John Paul I Assembly #1829, O'Fallon, IL. He was a member of the Fourth Degree Honor Guard.

Bill's passion in life was antique cars. He served on the board of directors of the Horseless Carriage Club of Missouri, was past president of the Gateway Chapter of the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club, served on the board of directors of the Mid America Old Time Auto Association, Inc of Petit Jean Mountain, AR, and was a member of the Memphis Old Time Auto Association and many other antique car clubs. Bill was also a member of the Automobile Collectors Club of the Greater Belleville Area since March of 1989 where he served as entertainment chairman, and helped with the club's public relations efforts.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Florence (nee: Matysik) Hubert.

Bill was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Left to mourn are his wife, Linda whom he married October 29, 1961 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Belleville, IL, his three children, Donna (Richard) Harrision of Woodbridge, VA, Bill Hubert Jr. of Troy, IL, and Laura (Richard) Kinzer of Humbolt, TN, six grandchildren, Shelby and Brittany Mullen, Carley and John Harrision, Samuel and Brooke Kinzer, two brothers, Robert (Faye) Hubert of Lebanon, IL, Donald (Geri) Hubert of Lebanon, IL, two sisters, Shirleen (Ken) Dressler of Belleville, IL, Kathleen (Joe) Bernreuter of O'Fallon, IL, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Bill will be forever missed and loved by all who knew him and all whose lives he touched.

VISITATION: Friends may call after 2 P.M. on Sunday, April 9, 2006 at the Laughlin Funeral Home. Fourth Degree Chalice Service will be celebrated at 6:00 P.M. Sunday evening at the Funeral Home.


SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 10, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Jerome Church, Troy, IL, with Rev. Msgr. Virgil Mank V.F. officiating. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jerome Building Fund and the Knights of Columbus of O'Fallon, IL.
