Warren Arthur Spencer, 96, of Troy, Ill., born July 12, 1918, in Troy, Ill., passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014.
Mr. Spencer fought in World War II in the United States Navy, and was a member of the American Legion Post and the V.F.W.
He was retired from Monsanto as a machinist and worked with his son, Dr. Don Spencer at the veterinary office. He loved animals, and enjoyed hunting with coon dogs. He was very mechanical and could fix most any, and all lawn mowers. He loved his garden, and would watch all sports with passion and enthusiasm. But most of all he loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the time he was able to spend with them at home, or at any of the sporting events he attended and watched them participate in. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Troy, Ill.
He was preceded in death by wife, Della Mae, nee Howard, Spencer, whom he married June 21, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., and who passed away Sep. 16, 2000; a son, Dr. Donald W. Spencer, DVM; his parents, Ernest and Pauline, nee Capelle, Spencer; three sisters, Mattie Ellen Llewellyn, Annie Heck-Lesicko, and Sarah Spencer; and three brothers, Herbert, William and Charles Callen.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol (John) Deloney of Troy, Ill., and Cindi (Jonathan) Hoppes of Edwardsville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Dana (Les) Paolucci, Andrea (Charlie) Maneke, and Spencer and Alex Hoppes; and two great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Dominic Paolucci.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 22, 2014, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill., and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Friedens United Church of Christ, Troy, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September, 23, 2014, with Rev. Douglas Seagle officiating. Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery, Troy, Ill.
