Virginia Ann Johnson, nee Brown, 62, of St. Jacob, Ill., born July 31, 1948, in St. Louis, Mo., died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Relais Bonne Eau Hospice of Southern Illinois in Edwardsville, Ill.
Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Triad High School, Class of 1966, McKendree University, Class of 1970, where she was a member of Clionian Literary Society and Kappa Lambda Iota. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Edwardsville, Ill., where she sang in the choir for three years. She was also a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution for 21 years and was a Chapter Regent, State Chairman and District Director for that organization. She also attended DAR Continental Congress in Washington D.C. for several years and marched in the Washington Independence Day parade on July 4, 2002, carrying the Illinois flag. She also served as a St. Jacob trustee. She taught school , worked at the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri, Coldwell Banker Brown Realtors and McKendree University, where she was working as a payroll clerk.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret, nee Newell, Brown; and a brother, James T. Brown.
Surviving are her husband, David W. Johnson of St. Jacob, Ill.; son, Andrew Robert Johnson of Newman Grove, Neb.; and brothers, William C. (Marla) Brown of Troy, Ill., and Robert T. Brown of Kenmore, Wash.
Memorials may be made to Fisher House at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Mo., or McKendree University.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home in St. Jacob, Ill.
Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. B. Timothy Harrison officiating.
