Virginia Marie Dressel, 89, of Highland, Ill., born Nov. 11, 1921, in St. Louis, Mo., died Friday, March 25, 2011, at Highland Health Care Center, Highland, Ill.
Virginia was a gentle, patient soul, respectful of life and all living things. She was a devoted member of the Third Order of St. Francis, and drew great strength from her deep faith and fervent love for God, Christ Jesus and the Blessed Mother. She was a member of St Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rose, nee Koester, Boll; a brother, Robert Boll; and a sister Rosemary DeLassus.
Surviving are her husband, Donald Dressel; her sons, Dennis (Sandy Rose) Dressel of Collinsville, Ill., and Douglas (Kathy) Dressel of Kirkwood, Mo.; her daughters, Mary (John) Biegler of Troy, Ill., Linda (Leonard) Kraudel of Troy, Ill., and Jeannie (Ken) Sockoch of Collinsville, Ill.; her grandchildren, Bridget and Michael Dressel, Jeremy (Jessica) Biegler, Jamie (Jimmy Martin) Biegler, Nicholas (Julienne) Dressel, Emily, Joseph and Thomas Kraudel and Matthew Sockoch; her great-grandchildren, Owen, Lorelia and Evalyn Biegler, Lilly Martin, Nicholas and Dominic Dressel; her brother, Eugene (Peggy) Boll; her sisters, Clara Zeuner, of St. Louis, Mo., Lorraine House of St. Louis, Mo., Rita Sennewald of St. Louis, Mo., and Delores Boly of St. Louis, Mo.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, Ill.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, Ill., with Father Pat Jakel officiating. Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Black Jack, Ill.
