Vera Weeks, of Highland, Ill., born January 8, 1933 in Manchester, England, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at her home with her family by her side in Highland, Ill.

Vera was a graduate of SIUE with a degree in education. She loved to sew and embroidery, playing the piano and accordion,  enjoyed dancing and acting. Most of all she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Barnes; parents, John and Margaret, nee Hughes, Gildea; sister, Margaret Dale; and brothers, John and Eric Gildea.

Surviving are her children, Cheryl (Mike) Chinal of Highland, Ill., Gary W. Weeks of Belleville, Ill. and Eric (Judy) Barnes of France; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorial may be made to Autism Center.  Online expressions of sympathy may be made at www.Richesonfh.com

Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2017 and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday May 6, 2017 at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home, 211 N. Douglas Street, St. Jacob, Ill.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home, St. Jacob, Ill., with the Rev. Charles West officiating. Interment will be in the Keystone Cemetery, St. Jacob, Ill.
