Obituary
Vera C. Strobel, nee Hendricks, 74, of Carlyle, Ill., born Aug. 22, 1938, in Terre Haute, Ind., passed away on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, in Highland, Ill.
Mrs. Strobel loved her family and friends. She was a member of VFW Post No. 5691 Ladies Auxiliary since 1976.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Strobel, whom she married on Feb. 21, 1955, and who passed away on Nov. 5, 1995; her parents, William "Bill" and Stella C., nee Imboden, Hendricks; brothers, Robert and Arnold Hendricks; and sister, Nancy Caldwell.
Surviving Vera are her five children, Larry (Bev) Strobel of Collinsville, Ill., Gary (Carrie) Strobel of Belleville, Ill., Bobby (special friend, Kellie Lewis) Strobel of St. Jacob, Ill., Theresa (Denny) Hale of Troy, Ill., and Sharon (Gary) Hayden of Highland, Ill.; five grandchildren, Tara (Eric) Hoopes, Leslie Strobel, Dane Hale, Angela Strobel and Loree Hayden; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Chase Hoopes; brothers, Don and William Hendricks; special friend and companion, Ronald Childress; and many friends, whom she adopted as her children and grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to VFW Post No. 5691 Ladies Auxiliary.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home, St. Jacob, Ill.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles West officiating. Interment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
