Obituary
Sylvia J. Kurtz, 77, of Troy, Ill., born Dec. 21, 1935, in Madison, Ill., died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Danny Hoenig; her parents, David E. and Irene, nee Bolin, Henry Sr.; and sisters, Virginia Sutton, Betty Richter and Erma Seiber.
Surviving are her husband, R. Dale Kurtz of Troy, Ill., whom she married on Dec. 25, 1954, in Maryville, Ill.; daughters, Connie Kurtz-Kueker of Troy, Ill., Deborah (Butch) DuVall of Collinsville, Ill., and Rebecca Kurtz-Faust of New Concord, Ky.; a son, William (Brenda) Kurtz of Maryville, Ill.; grandchildren, Dawn Strong, Patrick Hoenig, David Kueker, Jake DuVall, Scott Faust, Irene Faust and Crystal Kurtz; great-grandchildren, Ashley Magruder, Rebecca Prewett, Elizabeth Strong and Iris Kurtz; sisters, Berniece Vallero of Collinsville, Ill., and Rosalee (Stanley) Mattea of Glen Carbon, Ill.; and brothers, David E. (Jewell) Henry Jr. of Ballwin, Ill., and Robert (Ruth) Henry Sr. of Dow, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, and noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will be at Friedens Cemetery, Troy, Ill.
