Stephen Albert Hogg, 88, of Troy, Ill., born Dec. 19, 1922, in New Baden, Ill., died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.

Mr. Hogg not only enjoyed being a farmer, but he loved the nature of his farm as well as his garden. Mr. Hogg was a member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church, Troy, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred, nee Mueller, Hogg, who passed away in 1981; his step-grandson, Steven Iberg; his parents, Frank A. and Mary, nee Schaeffer, Hogg; three brothers, Anthony, Al and Andy Hogg; and a sister, Dorothy Harris.

Surviving are his wife, LaVera, nee Ballinger, Wilhelm Hogg; his sons, Stephen (Pamela) Hogg of Woodridge, Ill., Gary Hogg of Brooklyn, N.Y., David (Gretchen) Hogg of Enterprise, Ore., and James Hogg of Marian, Ind.; a step-son, John Wilhelm of Pearlington, Miss.; three step daughters, Patricia (Gene) Hindle of Umatilla, Fla., Sharon (Tim) Zenik of Collinsville, Ill., and Barbara (Brian) Stark of Burlington, Ill.; his grandchildren, Derek (Holly Kilgore) Hogg, Stephanie (Jason) Meister, Catherine, Elizabeth, Kyle and Eric Hogg; his step-grandchildren, Hannah (Ian Mason) Houtz, Bryan Jasper, Dawn (Joe) Waymire, and Ashley and Emily Stark; his great-grandchildren, David (Kim Siddall) Iberg and Malakai Houtz; and four brothers, Paul Hogg of Lebanon, Ill., Francis (Florence) Hogg of Aviston, Ill., Vince (Mary) Hogg of Lebanon, Ill., and Larry (JoAnne) Hogg of Belleville, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation or to St. Jerome Catholic Church for Masses.

Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, Troy, Ill.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, Troy, Ill., with Father Pat Jakel officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lebanon, Ill.
