Ruth E. Schaffner, nee Diederich, 79, of St. Charles, Mo. formerly of Troy, IL. born Oct.27,1923 in White Hall, IL. died Thursday, July 24, 2003,in St. Charles, MO.
Mrs. Schaffner was a retired nurse and housewife. She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ,Troy,IL. and Friedens Womens Guild and Family Community action and Education. She was of the Evangelical faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "encored" Schaffner, whom she married March 16, 1949, and who died Dec. 30, 1988; her parents Fred and Ruth M. Winkelmeier, Diederich; and a sister Charlotte.
She is survived by a son, Thomas (Lynn) Schaffner of Hazelwood, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Sarah and Amy Schaffner.

VISITATION: Friends may call at the Laughlin Funeral Home after 4 P.M. on Monday,July 28,2003.
FUNERAL: Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Frieden's United Church of Christ, Troy,IL.
BURIAL: Sunset Hills Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL.
