Mr. Russell L. Whitworth, 85, born September 23, 1921 in Briscoe, Missouri, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at St. John Mercy Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
Mr. Whitworth moved to Glen Carbon, Illinois in 1968, coming from Hazelwood, Missouri. Mr. Whitworth was a member of Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Foundation, Horseman's Benevolent and Protective Association, and in his spare time he enjoyed bowling with his friends and being with his family. Mr. Whitworth served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Mr. Whitworth is survived by his wife, Patricia (nee:Dolan) Whitworth of Glen Carbon, Illinois whom he married on October 12, 1957 in Clayton, Missouri, his sons, Russell (Susan) Whitworth of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Stephen (Jill) Whitworth of Glen Carbon, Illinois, his daughter, Mrs. Maryanne (John) Barkely of Troy, Illinois, his brothers, James T. Whitworth of Rosebud, Missouri, Harry A. (Patricia) Whitworth of Lake Hurst, New Jersey, Richard S. Whitworth of Bridgeton, Missouri, William Joseph (Patricia) Whitworth of Ferguson, Mo.,Sidney Gale Whitworth of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Howard Donald (Betty) Whitworth of Warrenton, Missouri, his grandchildren, Thomas Rex Whitworth, Lillian Grace Barkley, Marci Dominguez, and his great grandchildren, Michael and Jacob Plumlee.
Mr. Whitworth is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Lillian (nee:Strother) Whitworth, his brothers Delmer Eugene and Atholl Alexander Whitworth, and his sister Janet passed away in infancy.
VISITATION HOURS: Friends may call at the Laughlin Funeral Home after 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 19, 2007 and from 8:00 A.M. to time of service at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, April 20, 2007.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, April 20, 2007 at the Laughlin Funeral Home "Chapel" with Minister Barry Harris officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Estate Cemetery, Glen Carbon, Illinois.
