Roberta Corvallis, nee Maher, 82, of Maryville, Ill., born May 2, 1925, in Festus, Mo., died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.

Mrs. Corvallis was a nurses aide for 10 years in a nursing home and then became a homemaker.


She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Corvallis, whom she married in 1945 and who died in 1997; her parents, Leo and Essie, nee Fischer, Maher; a brother, Bill Maher; and a sister, Lois Cage.

Surviving are her son, George "Chip" (Joetta) Corvallis Jr., of Isleton, Calif.; her daughter, Judy (Bruce) Nowlin of Troy, Ill.; her grandchildren, Ron Burton, Ryan Burton, Kristina (Gary) Wilson and Shelly (Chad) VonBurg; her great-grandchildren, Cora and Jerin Burton, Jarett and Cody VonBurg, and Chase Wilson; and a sister, Mary Ellen (John) Byrd of Birmingham, Ala.

Memorials may be made to Friedens United Church of Christ, Troy, Ill.

Without Me
When tomorrow starts without me and I'm not there to see; if the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn't cry, the way you did today, while thinking of the many things we didn't get to say.
I know how much you loved me, as much as I loved you, and each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand that an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand, and said my place was ready in heaven far above, and that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, at Laughlin Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.

Funeral Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, at the fuernal home chapel. Cremation will follow the services.
