Reyburn "Ray" Cottingham, 80, of Troy, Ill., born Nov. 24, 1932, in Peoria, Ill., died on Monday, June 17, 2013, in Highland, Ill.
Ray was a quiet man who dearly loved his family. He retired from Caterpillar with more than 35 years of service. He was a history buff, especially history surrounding World War II and Railroad Steam and Diesel Engines. He loved the time he spent volunteering at the Cahokia Mounds and Lewis and Clark Historic Site.
Reyburn was preceded in death by his parents, Rayburn Cottingham and Helen Ruth, nee Planck, Cottingham; brother, Ron Cottingham; and sister, Patsy Almasy.
Surviving are his wife, Grace, nee Overmier, Cottingham of Troy, Ill.; his children, David (Bonnie) Cottingham of Aurora, Ill., Rev. Jeff (Denise) Cottingham of Gothenburg, Neb., Anne (Bob) Cook of Collinsville, Ill., and Ellen (Nigel) Deeprose of Dunfermline, Scotland; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Shannon) Sweeney, Matthew (Sarah) Cottingham, Daniel Schorfheide, Jared Cook, Whitney Cottingham, Meredith Cottingham and Thomas Deeprose; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Anna Grace Sweeney, Payton and Jack Cottingham; brother, Larry (Irene) Cottingham of LasCruses, N.M.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cahokia Mounds or Lewis and Clark Historic Site.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.
Friends may also call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Troy, Ill.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the church with the Rev. Mitchel Schuessler officiating. Interment in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Troy, Ill.
