Plumer Lancaster Jr., 82, of Troy, Ill., born Feb. 11, 1929, in Brosley, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Lancaster attended the Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a life time member of the Amvets. He worked for Max German Packing Company. He loved to dance and enjoyed being outdoors, especially when he was working in the garden or just sitting on the bank fishing.
He was preceded in death by his special friend, Bernadine Poletti; his parents, Plumer and Beulah, nee Haefner, Lancaster Sr.; and two brothers, Robert and Gerald Lancaster.
He is survived by Bernadine Poletti's children, Judy and Bruce Steele of Troy, Ill., Teresa and Brad Hovatter of Troy, Ill., Marilyn and Don Meyer of Trenton, Ill., and Wayne and June Poletti of Alhambra, Ill.; her 10 grandchildren; his two nieces, Karen and Richard Johnson of Houston, Texas and Patricia and Lyman Morris of Marion, Ill.; and his nephew, Robert and Terry Lancaster of Ballwin, Mo.
Memorials may be made to Fisher House at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri Veterans Home or St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Blackjack, Ill.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Blackjack, Ill.
