Paul D. Sims, 82, born October 22, 1924 in Troy, Illinois, died September 14, 2007 at Maryville Manor Nursing Home, Maryville, Illinois
Mr. Sims was born and raised in Troy, Illinois. He lived in Troy his entire life. Paul was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a past member of the Troy Lions Club. Paul was responsible for the success of the Troy Homecomings from 1946-1967. He was extremely instrumental in having President Truman in the homecoming parade. Paul was a member of the Carpenters Union in Freeburg. Paul took interest in attending fairs and yard sales.
Mr. Sims is survived by his wife Jean (nee: Klughart) Sims of Troy, Illinois, his step-son Dan (Jayne) Wooley of O'Fallon, Missouri, very close family friend Karen (Mike) McCally and their children Tim and Lauren of Edwardsville, Illinois, cousins Everett (Ruth) Rogier of Highland, Illinois, and James (Linda) Rogier of Humboldt, Tennessee.
Mr. Sims is preceded in death by his parents David E. and Maud (nee: Porter) Sims and a brother passed away in infancy.
VISITATION: Friends may call from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the Laughlin Funeral Home.
FUNERAL SERVICES: will be at 11 A.M. on Monday, September 17, 2007 from St. Paul Lutheran Church, Troy, Illinois with Reverend James Gullen and Reverend Darwin Schrader officiating. Burial will be at Friedens Cemetery, Troy, Illinois.
