Paul Edward Schmitt, 63, of Carlyle, IL formerly of Troy and Belleville, IL, born Saturday, July 2, 1960 in Highland, IL And passed away on Tuesday, July, 18, 2023 in St. Louis, MO,

Paul was a 1978 Graduate of Triad High School, Troy, IL.  He owned and operated Schmitt Building and Remodeling of Belleville. He enjoyed playing the drums and boating, especially at the Lake of the Ozarks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara (nee Barsch) Schmitt Waters and Erwin Schmitt; his sister, Vicki Kiraly and ex-wife, Wendy Booten Schmitt.

Surviving are his son, Jared (Kim) Schmitt; step-daughter, Heather Mehring Humes; granddaughters, Paislee and Teagan Schmitt, Hailey Benjamin and Payton Groennert; special friend and partner, Brenda (Strieker) Gebke and their cat Feather; his brother, John (Kathryn) Schmitt of Highland; his sister, Patty Briggs of Troy, IL many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time and place to be announced.
