Obituary

Palmer K. Kemp, 89, pf Holiday Shores, IL, born December 18, 1936, in East St. Louis, Il and passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026, in Alhambra, IL.

Palmer served his Country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, Bethalto, IL.  Palmer retired from Alton and Southern Railroad.  He worked after retirement as a realtor for Fox Creek Realty.  He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn (nee Woodward) Kemp; his parents, Palmer and Lucille (nee Richeson) Kemp; sisters, Margaret Dodson, Doris Kemp, Betty Shadwick, Joyce Holleman, Delores Crowley and Shirley Rule.

Surviving are his children, Mark (Marci) Kemp of Troy, IL, Sherry (Doug) Brueck of Pocahontas, IL and Charmaine (Neil) Holmes of Louisville, KY; his grandchildren, Ashley (Michael) Hamilton, Angela Brueck, Tucker Kemp, Ashton and Ella Fish and Samantha Holmes; his great-grandchildren, Julia and Olivia Hamilton, Landen, Lacey and Luke Starks; his brother, Sam (Sherry) Kemp of New Baden, IL; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held 11:30 am on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO with Rev. Willard Meyer officiating.
