Otis R. Bourland, Sr., 83, known to all his friends and family as "Toby," died at his residence in Troy, Illinois on July 5, 2010.
As a carpenter, he was master of his craft. He built many homes and commercial buildings in the Madison-St. Clair County area.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles Perry and Adelia, nee Schneider, Bourland; his first wife, Doris Ann, nee Pratt, Bourland; his son, Otis Raymond Bourland, Jr. and his grandson, Jamie Bourland (son of Otis Raymond Bourland, Jr.) He was also predeceased by his siblings, Herman Bourland, Doris Fuller, Ada Mayfield, Hazel Haake, and Naomi Vahlkamp.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Byrd-Bourland; his daughter and son-in-law, Lyn and Chuck Cappello; his son, Steven Clay Bourland; his stepchildren Mary Carol (Earl) Perschbacher, Jimmy Byrd, Mike (Debbie) Byrd, and Doug (Rea) Byrd; sister, Joyce Burdell, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Following his wishes, his remains are to be cremated, and he and his first wife, Doris Ann, will have their ashes scattered together overlooking the ocean.
There will be no services.
