Nick Stoyanoff, 52, of Troy, born July 31, 1951 in East St. Louis, died Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
Mr. Stoyanoff was the manager of the Schnucks Store in Edwardsville, Illinois. He was formerly a store manager for National Supermarkets, and joined Schnucks in 1995. Over the years, his hard work and commitment to the community earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and his community.
A seemingly tireless volunteer, Mr. Stoyanoff was a board member of the American Cancer Society and the Edwardsville Rotary Club. He was a committee member for the Edwardsville March of Dimes Walk America, the Edwardsville Community Foundation, Edwardsville-Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce and the Illinois ARC. On October 6, 2003, Nick culminated a lifetime of volunteerism by accepting the Edwards J. Schnuck Award for outstanding community service, one of the company's highest honors.
Nick will be remembered as a giant of a man, full of love, never speaking harsh, cruel or hurtful words, an almost perfect person. We can feel fortunate to be able to say he touched our lives. From each of us calling out My Man, Dad, Daddy, Nikto, Papa Nick, Friend, and Puppies Playmate, there will be a void in our lives that will never be replaced, but the memories will live forever. He is in God's hands and suffering no more.
Mr. Stoyanoff was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan, nee Lewis, Stoyanoff, who died April 15, 1997; his parents, Star and Catherine Stoyanoff; and his father-in-law, Leslie Lewis, who died January 13, 2000.
