Obituary
N. Gail Shanks, 85, of Troy, Ill., born June 21, 1925, in Howell County, Mo., died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at Maryville Manor, Maryville, Ill.
Mrs. Shanks retired from K-Mart as a food manager. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Fairview Heights, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Vincent Shanks whom she married on Dec. 29, 1945, and who died Feb. 18, 1989; parents, Shelton and Nora Edna, nee Patrick, Luna; and brothers, Basil and Doyle Luna
Surviving are her sons, Vernon (Gwenn) Shanks of Paducah, Ky., and Rex Shanks of Troy, Ill.; a daughter, Joyce Ouechani of
Edwardsville, Ill.; and grandchildren, Laura Braley, Sarah Shanks, Rachel Spees, Ellen Kenny, Jacob Shanks, Laila Gagnon and Maryam Ouechani.
Memorials may be made to Christian Family Services, 7955 Big Bend Blvd., St. Louis, Mo. 63119.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at the funeral home with Ministers Joe Taylor and Eugene Ishum officiating. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery, Edwardsville, Ill.
