Milton James Strong, 81, of Troy, Ill., born May 27, 1926, in Collinsville, Ill., died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Rosewood Care Center.
Mr. Strong was an iron worker and belonged to Local 392. He was a veteran serving in the Army Air Corp. He was a member of Troy Odd Fellows and American Legion Post 708 in Troy, Ill. Milton loved to bowl and enjoyed his woodworking.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Strong Sr.; his parents, Walter J. and Mary, nee Harris, Strong; a brother, Floyd Strong; a sister, Esther Rogers; and two great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Rosalie, nee Hale, Strong; his children, Linda Simpkins of Granite City, Ill., and Carol (Don) Whiteside of Godfrey, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Janet Strong of Marissa, Ill.; sister, Joyce Palmer of Harvard, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the United Pentecostal Church of Troy, Ill., or to Ministries Unlimited.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2008, at Laughlin Funeral Home in Troy, Ill.
Private funeral service will be held with the Rev. Howard Bradshaw officiating. Mr. Strong's wishes were to be cremated. Burial of remains will be in Harris Cemetery.
