Obituary
Millie Shaffer, age 86, of Troy, Illinois passed away at her residence on Sunday, January 10, 2010.
Mrs. Shaffer was born February 20, 1923 in Troy, Illinois to John H. and Ethel (nee Morriss) Collins. Millie was co-owner of G. A. Shaffer Agency, Troy, Il. She was a member of the Troy United Methodist Church, Troy Womens Club and Gateway East Artist Guild. She volunteered for the Tri Township Library, Anderson Hospital, and the Friends of the library SIUE.
Nrs. Shaffer was preceded in death by her husband G. A. Shaffer whom she married June 18, 1944 and who died on February 11, 1988; her parents John H. and Ethel Collins, and brother J. Morriss Collins.
She is survived by her son, William (Carolyn) Shaffer of Burleson, Texas and his twin sister, Joyce (Dwayne) Fulton of Osage Beach, MO. and grandchildren, John Shaffer and Stephanie (Austin) Little.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Troy United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Price officiating. Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery, Troy, IL.
