Mildred "Millie" Loyet, 96, of Troy, IL, born Thursday, June 23, 1927 in Glen Carbon, IL and passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Brightly Senior Living, Glen Carbon, IL.
Millie was a long time faithful member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL where she volunteered with St. Ann's Sodality, St. Jerome's Council of Catholic Women and Daughters of Isabella. She and Alvin were long time members of the Farm Bureau. She was an active member of the Moose Lodge joining in 1988, Red Hat Society, and a member of the group of ladies called "The Late Bloomers", Silver Sneakers at the YMCA and enjoyed participating and winning medals at the Senior Olympics. She bowled on many leagues, winning first place 6 years in a row. She bowled a 600 series, and won many trophies. Millie was a member of and attended Jarvis Township Senior Citizen's activities. Mildred and her husband, Alvin, had a passion for life and frequently were playing cards with friends or enjoying an evening of dancing. Millie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother enjoying her family and the times they spent together.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin J. Loyet whom she married on July 27, 1943 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Edwardsville, IL and he passed away on April 27, 2011; her son, Curtis Loyet; a granddaughter, Alissa Schreiber; and her parents, Joseph and Minnie (nee Paukatat) Bouse.
Surviving are her children, Gerald "Jerry" Loyet of Troy, IL, Charlotte (Edward) Hamill of Perkinston, MS, Anita M. Howard of Troy, IL, Marlene Loyet of St. Ann, MO, Teresa (Terry) Visintine of Glen Carbon, IL and Joan (Fred) Schreiber of Troy, IL; her grandchildren, Bill Hamill, Philip (Rachel) Hamill, Carla (Doug) Gieseking, John Howard, Aaron (Megan) Howard, Chris Loyet, Erren (Heather) Hayes, Katie Loyet, Adam Loyet, Derek (Sheena Chew) Oakley, Lara (Robert Schuh) Oakley, Alaina (Brian) Saligman, Lauren, Tony, Eric Schreiber and Alissa Schreiber; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Hunter Loyet, Vera and Avery Oakley, Emilia and Matilda Schuh, Sebastian Saligman and Maya Howard; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Memorials may be made to Siteman Cancer Center for research, Misericordia Heart of Mercy Residential Care Center or St. Jerome Catholic Church for masses. Online expressions of sympathy may be made at www.Richesonfh.com
Visitation will be held 9:30 am to 11 am on Saturday, December 23 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL.
Funeral mass will be held 11 am Saturday, December 23, 2023 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL with Fr. Kevin Laughery officiating. Interment will be in Buck Road Cemetery, Maryville, IL.
