Melvin W. Riebold, 84, of St. Jacob, IL, born January 2, 1934 in Lebanon, IL passed surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Faith Country Side, Highland, IL.
Melvin was a member of St. James Catholic Church in St. Jacob for over 30 years, transferring to St. Paul's Catholic Church, Highland, IL. He attended Black Jack grade school and McCray-Dewey High School in Troy in 1947-48 and was a graduate of Lebanon High School Class of 1949.
Melvin was a Korean Veteran serving in United States Army in 1956-62 and member of American Legion Post 439, Highland, IL. He started his career as a milk truck driver for Kohne Motor Fuels in 1955, entered into the service until 1962 and retired after 41 years as a meat cutter working at IGA, A & P and Super Value Grocery stores. He enjoyed working on the farm, and with farm equipment. Melvin was always ready for a hunting and fishing trip and enjoyed watch his sons play a good baseball or basketball game.
He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Marie (nee Kohne) Riebold; and a brother Orville Riebold.
Surviving are his wife, Elvenia (nee Frey) Riebold of Highland, IL whom he married May 30, 1956; sons, Carl (Karen) Riebold of Troy, IL and Russell (Lisa) Riebold of St. Jacob, IL; grandchildren, Michael (Alexandrea) Riebold, Andrew (Ashley) Riebold, Eric Riebold, Amy (Derrick) Jansen; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Damian, Tristen, Alex, Will and Henry.

Friends may call on Friday, November 9, from 5 to 8 pm at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home, St. Jacob, IL and 9 to 10 am Saturday, November 10 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Highland, IL.
Funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Highland, IL with Fr. Pat Jakel officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in the Keystone Cemetery, St. Jacob, IL
