Obituary
Melvin A. Greear, 97, of Normal, Ill., formerly of Troy, Ill., born May 1, 1916, in Groten, S.D., died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Heartland Manor Care in Normal, Ill.
Mr. Greear retired from the road maintenance department for Jarvis Township in Troy, Ill. He was a member of the Collinsville Moose Lodge 1561.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, nee Uhring, Greear, whom he married on April 11, 1970, in Friedens United Church of Christ by the Rev. R.H. Mornhinweg, and who died Feb. 18, 2013; a son, Melvin "Buddy" Greear; parents, Lon and Signa, nee Ousterman, Pierce; and brothers, Kenneth, Donald, Leo, Carl and Emmett Greear.
Surviving are his son, Robert Lee (Judy) Greear of Godfrey, Ill.; daughters, LaVerne Beverly Bloemker of Hamel, Ill., Betty Ann Greear of Caseyville, Ill., and Brenda Lee (Robert) Milcik of Bloomington, Ill.; stepson, Edmond (May) Willimann of Prescott, AZ.; stepdaughter, Doris Ann (Lee) Nations of Imperial, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Friedens Cemetery, Troy, Ill.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at the Richeson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles West officiating. Burial will be at Friedens Cemetery, Troy, Ill.
