Melba Matilda Hampton, nee Bartels, 85, of Troy, Il., born October 21, 1923 in East St. Louis, Il., died Monday, December 15, 2008 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Il.
Mrs. Hampton was a homemaker and member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Troy, Il.
Melba was preceded in death by her husband Omar R. Hampton whom she married May 23, 1948; and parents, Henry E. and Frances M., nee Smith, Bartels.
Surviving are her sons, Michael (LeAnn) Hampton and James R. (Valorie) Hampton, both of Troy, Il.; grandchildren, Michael, Jared and Joshua Hampton and Jamie Rietz; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Cameron and Jackson Hampton and Ella Rietz; and a sister, Clarice Bartels of Troy, Il.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008 at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Troy, Il.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008 at the church. Interment will be in Friedens Cemetery in Troy, Il.
