Mary Ellen Walker, age 55, of Troy, Illinois died peacefully at her home on September 16, 2010 with loved ones by her side. She was born November 29, 1954 in Granite City, Illinois, and married Richard Walker on October 4, 1980 in Granite City, Illinois.

Mrs. Walker was a para legal having worked as a court reporter in St. Louis, Mo., and St. Clair and Madison counties. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Troy, IL. and had served as Democratic Precinct Committeeman. Mary enjoyed reading a good book, but she really loved shopping, her politics, and more importantly, spending time with her grandchildren and her puppy Barkley.

She was preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth (nee Kirby) Pena.

Surviving are her husband Richard Walker of Troy, Il.; daughters, Katherine (Brian) Bradford of Troy, Il. and Elizabeth Walker of Maryville, IL.; grandchildren, Evan Michael and Elle Victoria Thompson; father Raymond Pena of Troy, IL, brothers, Raymond (Vicki) Pena of Phoenix, AZ., Edward (Deborah) Pena of Houston, TX., and Charles Pena of Houston, TX., and sister, Gloria (Robert) Tishler of Springfield, IL.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Troy, IL.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from 5 to 7 PM at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 7 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Mitchel Schuessler officiating.

It was Mary's wishes to be cremated.
