Mary Ann Sanderson, 63, of Belleville, IL, born February 20, 1954, in Cedar Rapids, IA, died peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2017, in the home where she had lived since her childhood.

A 1977 graduate of McKendree College in Lebanon, IL, Mary Ann had a degree in Colonial History. Mary Ann spent her entire career as a teacher, teaching at St. Luke, St. Henry, Queen of Peace and St. James Catholic grade schools, serving as Principal at St. James at one point in her long career.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Mary Lenore (nee Hawkins) Milazzo; and a brother John Milazzo.

Surviving are her husband, Larry E. Sanderson whom she married on September 20, 1980 in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at the Cathedral of St. Peter, in Belleville, IL; sister-in-laws, Sherry (Sam) Kemp of New Baden, IL, Nancy (Mark) Westhoff of Milstadt, IL, and Margie Lyn Sanderson of Belleville, IL; nieces, Elizabeth S. Westhoff of St. Louis, MO, and Christine (Timothy) Westhoff-Allen of Little Rock, AR; great-niece, Cecilia Allen.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, Cathedral of St. Peter, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Monsignor John T. Myler, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
