Obituary
Mary J. Bess, 70, of Troy, Ill., born Dec. 3, 1945, in St. Louis, Mo., passed away Jan. 6, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family.
Mary was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, Ill. She retired from Triad School District after many years of service. She enjoyed the times she spent with her family and watching her grandchildren. Mary was involved in Girl Scouts, Triad Band Boosters and the PTO.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Bess, whom she married on Nov. 8, 1968, and who passed away Dec. 14, 1993; daughter, Criss Bess; grandson, Dakota Karban; parents, John and Esther, nee Bell, Zimmer; and a sister, Anna Thompson.
Surviving are her sons, Michael (Cathy) Bess of Troy, Ill., and John Bess of Mount Olive, Ill.; daughter, Mary (Keith) Karban of Troy, Ill.; and grandchildren, Kailie and David Karban, Stephen, Evan, Trevor, Clay and Grace Bess. She was an aunt, cousin and dear friend.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at the funeral home with Father Allen Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
