Mary "Estelle" Bayer, nee: Jackson 87, of Glen Carbon, Ill., formerly of Troy, Ill., born September 12, 1919 in Thorpe, Tenn., died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.

Mrs. Bayer had retired from Civil Service at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. She moved to Troy in 1957, where she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a member of American Legion Post 708 and the Lutheran Women Missionary League. Estelle worked with the brail workers at St. Paul and enjoyed quilting at Friedens Church every week.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bayer, whom she married March 22, 1940 and who died July 25, 1976, her parents, Louis and Lillie, nee Galusha, Jackson, and a brother Charles Douglas Jackson.

Surving are her sons, Charles (Mary Darlene) Bayer of Granite City, Ill., and Robert (Valentina) Bayer of Hopkins, Minn., a former daughter-in-law, Margaret Bicek of Minnetonka, Minn., sisters-in-law, Evelyn Jackson of Troy, Ill.,Leona "Tootsie" Griffin of Granite City, Ill., and Alma Barnhart of Arkansas, brother and sister-in-law John and Helen Kulelka of Granite City, Ill., six granddaughters, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Laughlin Funeral Home, Troy, Ill., and from 9 to 10 A.M. Monday, July 23, 2007 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Troy, Ill.

FUNERAL: Funeral Service will be held at 10 A.M. Monday July 23, 2007 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Troy, Ill. with the Rev. James Gullen officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Troy, Ill.
