Obituary

Mr. Marvin Alfred Perkins, age 80, of Troy, Illinois, born May 14, 1925 in Villa Ridge, Missouri, died January 16, 2006.

Mr. Perkins lived in Troy since 1964. He retired from National Steel Company in Granite City, Illinois. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 976, Maryville Knights of Columbus and St. Jerome Catholic Church.

Mr. Perkins is preceded in death by his parents, Michael F. and Cecilia (nee:Tobben) Perkins, his wife Rosemary (nee:Stack) Perkins whom he married on September 8, 1946 and died on October 19, 2000, a daughter Theresa Perkins and sisters, Mrs. Mary Beth Reagan and Mrs. Mildred Williams.

Mr. Perkins is survived by five sons: Gregory Lee (Susan) Perkins of Collinsville, Illinois, Donald Joseph (Paula) Perkins of Royse City, Texas, John Francis (Sandra) Perkins of Marine, Illinois, Jeffrey Alan (Cynthia) Perkins of Rowlett, Texas, Mark Edward (Rita) Perkins of Marine, Illinois, five daughters: Mrs. Gail (Arthur) Modrovsky of Collinsville, Illinois, Mrs. Beverly (Bill) Hudson of St. Louis, Missouri, Mrs. Diana Lynn (Allen) Mertz of Troy, Illinois, and Mrs. Mary Timms of Troy, Illinois, one brother, Marlen (Barbara) Perkins of Granite City, Illinois, one sister, Mrs. Laverne (Bill) Mull of Granite City, Illinois, 54 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

VISITATION:Friends may call at the Laughlin Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 and from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at St. Jerome Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 19, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Jerome Catholic Church, with Reverend Monsignor Virgil W.Mank, V.F. officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Edwardsville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Diabetes Association, Cancer Fund or Heart Association.
