Marvin E. Mertz, 78 of Troy, Ill., born June 5, 1933 in O'Fallon, Ill., died October 4, 2011 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Mertz was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta (nee Louis) Mertz, parents, Emmett C. and Cloepha (nee Quitmeyer) Mertz and a brother-in-law Thomas McKune.
He is survived by his son Allen (Diana) Mertz of Troy, IL, grandchildren, Christopher (Amanda) Mertz, Timothy (Hayley) Mertz, Christine (Kevin) McCalister, Curtis Loucks, Cheryl (Theodore) Cherico, Cynthia Dooley and Craig (Christine) Loucks, great-grandchildren, David and Alaina Mertz, Corey, Casey, Conner and Braden Wheeler, Ariana Bauchman, Payton Dooley, Sierra, Aubrey, Jack and Annabelle Loucks and Wyatt Cherico, great-great-grandchild, Carly Wheeler,
a sister Normajean McKune of Fairview Heights, IL
Memorials may be made to a hospice program of donor's choice.
Private services were held with Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Shiloh, IL.
