Marlin H. "Berk" Bergschneider, 88, of Troy, IL, born Wednesday, December 16, 1931 in Granite City, IL and passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at his home in Troy, IL.
Berk joined the Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Alaska. He loved to reminisce and share stories of his time there. Berk retired from Granite City Steel after working for 43 years as a control specialist. He enjoyed fishing, hosting fish frys, golfing, rabbit hunting, camping and bowling with his family and friends. He enjoyed watching all sports and westerns on TV. Berk enjoyed many afternoons of fellowship with his buddies at the Troy VFW. Most of all he enjoyed his family and friends and the time he was able to spend with them.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Eleanor C. "Ellie" (nee Kingston) Bergschneider and Gloria Bergschneider; granddaughter, Danielle Ruger; parents, Anthony R. and Olivia (nee Hoehn) Bergschneider; sister, Wanda (Ray) Hadley; and his son-in-law, Michael Sampson.
Surviving are his daughters, Tammy (Joseph) Buck III of Troy, IL, Dellyne Sampson of Collinsville, IL, Sherry (Terry) Parish of Alhambra, IL and Donna (James) Bergschneider-Wright; grandchildren, James Wright III, Michael Wright, Heather (Dwayne) Blaylock, Joseph IV (Cheri) Buck, Kristy (Jason) Cook, Joshua Ruger (Tara Shevlin), Justin Ruger, Jordan Ruger (Miranda), Chloe Brown, Gregory Brown (Lucy Phillips), Keith Parish (Ashley Dresch), Ryan (Erica) Robinson, Tyler Parish (Malerie Cesnik), Kyle Parish (Drew Jerman): great-grandchildren, Brook and Jake Blaylock, Emmett and Everett Buck, Ellie and Zachery Symmonds, William Cook, Alyssa, Kelci and Audrey Ruger, Ayden and Lane Ruger, Trinity and Quentin Parish, Carson, Maci, Jaxon and Clayton Robinson, Kyleigh Cesnik; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and long time friends.
