Mark Philip Shands, 31, of Troy, IL, born Monday, May 6, 1991 in St. Louis, MO and passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.

Mark enjoyed watching and playing sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Blues fan.  He loved his family, and he had an uncanny ability to bring a smile wherever it was needed.  He was always ready to tell you a good story and loved his puppies, Samuel L. Jackson and Carree.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Thomas Epperson; and his step-brother, Eric D. Cash.

Surviving are his parents, Mary Jean (Epperson) Shands of Troy, IL and Drew (Aline) Shands of Glen Carbon, IL; brother, Matthew E. Shands of Troy, IL; step-sisters, Tammie (Jim) Busch of Troy, IL and Stacie (Kevin) Thomas of O'Fallon, MO; aunts and uncles, Christy Waxelman, Donna Shands, Thomas (Judy) Shands, Philip Shands, Brenda Shands, Patti Shands, and Bob Shands; cousins and many many dear friends

Visitation for Mark will be held 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, October 12. 2022 at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, IL.  Mark's family requests that you wear your favorite Cardinals or Blues jersey to celebrate Mark's life well lived.

Funeral services will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, IL with Rev. Jay Carr officiating with interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Glen Carbon, IL.
