Marcella "Sally" Brendel, 95, of Troy, IL, born Tuesday, December 29, 1925 in Breese, IL and passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.
Sally was a faithful member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and the St. Ann's Sodality. She worked at Triad Schools as a cook for over 20 years. Sally enjoyed quilting, playing cards, watching the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, square dancing and was part of a canasta club for over 50 years. She loved her family and the time she spent with them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Owen Brendel whom she married June 29, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic in Trenton, IL and he passed away October 17, 2007; a grandson, Zachary Brendel; her parents, Edward H. and Philomena H. (nee Huelsmann) Kniepmann; her brothers, Edward (Norine) and Joseph (Theresa) Kniepmann; and sisters, Mary (Alfred) Hammer, Rose (Bud) Sudholt, Ann (Orville) Litteken, Rita (Edgar) Leining; brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis Lechner, Clinton "Mick" Bellm, Selda (Raleigh) Reiss, Jim (Jane) Brendel, Maynard (Delores) Brendel and Edwin "Baldy" (Betty) Brendel.
Surviving are her children, Bob (Linda) Brendel, Fairview Heights, IL, Jerry (Karen) Brendel, Naperville, IL, Judy (Mark) Kaiser, The Village, FL, Rick (Cathy) Brendel, Indie Atlantic, FL, Susie (Gus) Riggs, Lebanon, IL and Mark (Denise) Brendel, Salem, IL; grandchildren, Amy Brendel, Andy (Kate) Brendel, Josh (Bridgette) Topper, Travis (Hadiyah) Brendel, Brian (Erin) Riggs, Keri (Paul) Watkins, Amanda (Daniel) Litteken and Tyler Brendel; great-grandchildren, Owen Brendel, Hadley, Riggs, Declan Riggs, Jackson Topper, Keaton Litteken, Cooper Litteken, Hanna Brendel, Jude Brendel, William Watkins, Olivia Watkins and Samuel Watkins; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be 9-10 am on Friday, October 22, 2021 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, IL with Fr. Kevin Laughery officiating. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Blackjack, IL.
