Mabel M. Alvis, 95, of Troy, Ill., born June 9, 1921 in Fairrington Township, Ill., passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.

Mabel Attended the Baptist Church, she was a Secretary for the Triad School District for many years and volunteered at Anderson Hospital. She was an excellent seamstress making clothing, many costumes, and embroidery. The highlight and success of her life were in her grandchild, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild, all whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo E. Alvis; son, Dennis Alvis, two great-grandchildren; parents, Raymond and Ruby, nee Humphreys, Sledge; brothers, Walter "Bud" Sledge and Lester Sledge; and her sister, Edith Ellis.

Surviving are her children, LaDonna (Ed) Holshouser of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Jerry (Tina) Alvis of Prescott, Ariz.; grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Jim) Acra, David (Gina) Blumenstock, Brad (Laura) Blumenstock, Deana (Jim) Strack, Tamerisa (Ken) Dyer, Jeannine Willoughby, Amanda Alvis, Justine (Mark) Dochterman and Nathaniel (Amada) Alvis; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
