Loretta M. "Lori" Grimaud, 87, of Troy, lost her battle with Alzheimer's and went to be with her Lord on January 4, 2014 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon. She was born on June 13, 1926 in St. Louis, to Onnie William and Velma Martha (nee Richards) Willhite and was a graduate of Central High School in St. Louis.
Lori loved life and spending time with family, friends and her lovable little dog Molly. She lead her life according to The Golden Rule and the beliefs and morals she was raised by. Lori was a USO Queen, editor of the USO newsletter, USO event chairperson, on the Jack and Jill Ranch committee and worked for Butler Brothers. She married the love of her life, enjoyed being a housewife and later worked at Scroeder's Cheese Shop and as a medical receptionist.
Lori was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Troy and a former long-time member of Troy United Methodist Church. She was a member of Friedens UCC Ladies Guild, Fidelis Circle, Senior Citizens Center and a TOPS member with a long-time KOPS status. Lori kept active as a Sunday school teacher, advocate for the Troy Library, Brownie Scout Leader and supported the Boy Scouts of America as well as the Moccasins Boy Scout organization, a volunteer group dedicated to maintaining Boy Scout Camp Sunnen founded by her husband Jean. She lead the Troy Blood Drive, was fundraising chairperson for the American Cancer Society and had been president of the Troy Women's Club. She was a champion bowler with the Marine Ammonia Bowling Team, enjoyed laughter, entertaining friends and performing
with "The Androoz Sisters" tribute group. Lori was a long-time Cardinals Baseball Fan, loved dancing, big band music, gardening, cooking, sewing, and craft making; an art form she shared with her husband.
Lori was a beloved daughter, wife, mother and friend to all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Jean Grimaud and her parents, Onnie W. and Velma M. Willhite.
Surviving are her children Gregg Grimaud of Kansas City, MO, and Michelle Grimaud of Skokie, IL. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for Lori during her final years. She donated her body to science.
Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am Saturday June 7, 2014, at Friedens United Church of Christ, 207 E. Center Street, Troy, memorial services will be held 11:00 am Saturday at the church. For this 'Celebration Of Her Life', friends & family are welcome to share stories & memories of Lori.
