Obituary

Reverend Lonnie Lee Bledsaw, age 71, of Troy, Ordained Minister of Church of God, went to see his Jesus on Sunday, November 21, 2004, surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Reverend Bledsaw has been an ordained minister of the Church of God for 40 years, pastoring and evangelizing in the states of Illinois, California, and Florida. He also owned and operated a concrete business for 30 years. After his retirement, he and his wife, Bernice enjoyed traveling for many years. He loved God, his family, and was a hard worker all his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Earl and Elsie Isabella (nee Reed) Bledsaw, a brother, Johnny M. Bledsaw, and a sister, Lola F. Clower.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Melba "Bernice" Bledsaw whom he married November 5, 1949 in Quartzsite, Arizona. He is also survived by his five daughters, Sharon (Donnie) Wood, of Troy, Pamela (Douglas) Bowers of Troy, Janice (Larry) Burns of Troy, Londa (David) Palmer of Pierron, and Edwina (Ron) Bullard of Troy; four sisters, Alleen McKnight, Georgia F. Bright, Charlene M. Robinson, Juanita R. Pettis; 11 grandchildren and their families, Kevin (Krysta) Wood and children, Steven and Cayla, all of Bakersfield, California, Stephanie (Dale) Myers and thier children, Kyle, Jacob, and Zachary Myers, Diane Ortiz, Debra and Eric Phillips, all of Troy, Deanne (Clay) Burns and children, Jacob, Sarah, and Kayla Burns, all of Alhambra, Illinois; Trishelle (Bryan) Cornell and children, Jacob, Amanda, and Austin, all of Troy; Douglas (Lynda) Bowers of Edwardsville, Illinois, Arik Burns of Troy, David (Michelle) Burns, II, and son, Bryce of Highland; Jeremy Palmer of Pierron, Brandon Palmer of Pierron, Heather Bullard of Troy, and Nick Bullard of Troy.

Visitation: 4:00 pm, Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at Laughlin Funeral Home and after 10:00 am, Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at Laughlin Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Don Stovall officiating.

Memorials may be made to Gateway Regional Hospice

Interment: St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Black Jack, Illinois
