Obituary
Lester Earl Atkinson, 70, of Troy, Ill., born Jan. 15, 1939, in East Prairie, Mo., died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Atkinson owned and operated the Hill Top Green House in Troy, Ill. He was a member of Troy United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Boy Scout Troop 226 of Troy, Ill., and he enjoyed Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club. Lester served in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. and Dorothy Lee, nee Ivy, Atkinson.
Surviving are his wife, Linda, nee Smithson, Atkinson whom he married on Feb. 11, 1959; a son, Josh Jaskot of Troy, Ill.; daughters, LaTesha of Alton, Ill., Lynette (Rick) Brown of Collinsville, Ill., and Amanda Jaskot of Troy, Ill.; a sister, LaWanda Atkinson of St. Louis, Mo.; and a brother, Loy Atkinson of O'Fallon, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, Ill., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009, at Troy United Methodist Church, Troy, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009, at Troy United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dennis Price officiating. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
