Leonard O. Baumgartner, age 67 of Alhambra, formerly of Troy, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 5, 2004 at Belleville Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois.
Mr.Baumgartner was owner and operator of Len's Service in Troy for many years. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and a Captain on The Troy Volunteer Fire Department for 20 plus years. He was a member of the Troy Knights of Columbus. Leonard enjoyed public service and was always willing to lend a helping hand when and where ever needed. He enjoyed fishing and loved the company of his brothers.
He is survived by three sons, Leonard (Linda) Baumgartner of Springfield,IL., Michael (Lori) Baumgartner of Edwardsville, IL., Daniel Baumgartner of Troy, IL. and two daughters; Mrs. Tamara (Jeff) Mitchell of Troy, IL. and Julie Baumgartner of Troy, IL.
Four brothers: Jerry (Rita) Baumgartner of Trenton, IL., Otto (Sharon) Baumgartner of Troy, IL., Hank (Carolyn) Baumgartner of Roxanna, IL., Paul (Mary Jo) Baumgartner of Troy, IL. and six sisters; Esther (Don) Miller of Glen Carbon, IL., Mary (Charles) Hobbs of Marine, IL., Christine Friess of Mascoutah, IL., Ann (Richard) Mersinger of St. Jacob, IL., Agnes (Frank) Raine of Glen Carbon, IL., Theresa (Robert) Deak of Hillsboro, IL; Eight Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren.
He is predeeded in death by his father Otto Baumgartner who passed away in 1966 and his wife Betty (nee: Heller) Baumgartner who passed away in 1986.

Visitation: Friends may call at the Laughlin Funeral Home after 4 P.M. on Thursday, July 8, 2004.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 9, 2004 from St. Jerome Catholic Church at 10 A.M.

Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery, Black Jack.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital or the Troy Volunteer Fire Department.
