Larry Talbert, 79, of Troy, IL was born April 25, 1947, in Watseka, IL and passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Larry honorably served his country as a Marine. He enjoyed skydiving and had thousands of documented jumps. A good day included a ride through the country on his Harley, grilling delicious BBQ, and watching a NASCAR race. He loved working on cars and woodworking. He taught automotive classes at Granite City High School for many years. He was a proud member of the Illinois Patriot Guard Riders. Most of all, Larry loved his family, enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the times they spent together.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kate Talbert; his parents, Clarence H. and Mary M. (nee Potts) Talbert; and his sister, Rose M. Rueck.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy (nee Lesicko) Talbert; his children, Corey (Jaye) Hochuli of Winfield, MO and Sarah (Greg) Flatt of Edwardsville, IL; grandchildren, Seth (Ashley) Hochuli, Caitlin Hochuli, Jada (Hayden) Allison, Elise Flatt and Audrey Flatt; great-grandchildren, Esmond, Elbrecht, Myles and Remiel Hochuli and Rory Allison; sisters, Nancy Schaefer of Carlsbad, CA and Leann Simpson of Gilman, IL; sister-in-law Donna Faigle of Collinsville, IL; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 11, from 3-5pm at Stagger Inn, 104 E Vandalia St, Edwardsville, IL 62025.

Interment will be in Onarga Township Cemetery, Onarga, IL.
