Mr. Larry R. Bohnenstiehl, age 64, of St. Jacob, Illinois, died Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Illinois. Larry was born June 13, 1946 in Hamel, Illinois. He was the beloved husband of Peggy Marie (nee Cole) Bohnenstiehl, whom he married on December 5, 1970 in Wood River, IL.

Larry retired in June 2009 from McFarland Heating and Cooling in Granite City, Illinois. He previously worked 25 years for Lebanon Heating & Cooling. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970.

Larry was a member of St. Jacob United Church of Christ where he served on the church council and numerous committees. He was a former member of the St. Jacob Lions Club, serving as president; charter member of the St. Jacob Jaycees, serving as president and secretary; President of the St. Jacob Homecoming for many years; elected to the Board of Trustees for the St. Jacob Community Building, where he served in many capacities from 1980 to present, and has been the President of the Trustees since 2005. He has been a member of the Lookingglass Corvette Club since 1999.

Larry's passion was his corvettes, but his special, greatest joys were his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending all of their baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, and football games. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends, and all those who knew him.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Everett George and Vivette "Peggy" (nee DeForest) Bohnenstiehl; maternal grandparents, Robert and Elizabeth DeForest, and paternal grandparents, George and Matilda "Tillie" Bohnenstiehl.

In addition to his loving wife of 40 years, Peggy, he is survived by two sons, Todd (Michelle) Bohnenstiehl of Marine, IL. and Tim (Jennifer) Bohnenstiehl of Troy, IL.; three grandsons, Justin and Jordan Bohnenstiehl of Marine, IL. and Joe Bohnenstiehl of Troy, IL, and one granddaughter, Hanna Bohnenstiehl of Troy. IL; six brothers, Everett (Pam) Bohnenstiehl of St. Jacob, IL., Jerry (Lynn) Bohnenstiehl of Lebanon, IL., Gary (Darice) Bohnenstiehl of Belleville, IL., Bill (Vicki) Bohnenstiehl of Lebanon, IL., Randy Bohnenstiehl of Belleville, IL., and Rick (Deb) Bohnenstiehl of Tarpon Springs, FL.; sister, Terry Dee Bohnenstiehl Ogden of St. Petersburg, FL; nieces, nephews, and special dear friends, Dave and Tami Lauer of Troy, IL.

Memorials may be made to St. Jacob United Church of Christ.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 8, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home, St. Jacob, IL. and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at St. Jacob U.C.C., St. Jacob, IL.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at St. Jacob U.C.C. at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gary Kniepkamp officiating.

Interment will follow in Keystone Cemetery, St. Jacob, IL.

Serving as Pall Bearers will be Dave Lauer, Joe Schultze, Dave Seaman, Dave McFarland, Harold Mannle, and D.J. Krotz.
