Obituary

Kenneth L. "Kenny" Loyet, 88, of Troy, Ill., born Oct. 26, 1924, in Black Jack, Ill., died on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.

Mr. Loyet was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, Ill. He loved working the ground he farmed and raising and caring for his cattle. He served on the Jarvis Township Board, the Troy Security Bank Board and was chairman of Troy Grain Company. He had just received his 50 year pin as a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus. Kenny was the king of one liners and loved to make you smile. He was an avid card player, playing cards in many card clubs. He was a mushroom hunter and enjoyed dancing. Kenny's philosophy in life was "A stranger is just a friend I haven't met yet."

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn M. Loyet; his parents, Peter Leonard and Estelle, nee Ammel, Loyet; brothers, Alvin, Harold and Edward Loyet; and sister, Delores Gruber.

Surviving are his wife, Julia G., nee Abert, Loyet of Troy, Ill., whom he married June 26, 1947; son, Steve L. (Connie) Loyet DVM of Fairview Heights, Ill.; daughter, Karen (Pat) Kuhl of O'Fallon, Ill.; grandsons, Nathan (Tomomi Sawada) Kuhl of Ballwin, Mo., and Adam Kuhl of O'Fallon, Ill.; sister, Agnes Schreiber of Highland, Ill.; a host of other relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Cemetery or Cancer Research.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Laughlin-Richeson Funeral Home in Troy, Ill.
Friends may also call from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, Ill.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at the church with Father Pat Jakel officiating. Interment in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Black Jack, Ill.
