Obituary

Kay Trone, 74, of Troy, Illinois, born July 2, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

Her parents were Carl H. and Fern E. (nee Porter) Embrey. Kay graduated from Triad High School in St. Jacob, Illinois in 1969. She worked for many years as a legal secretary, first at the Madison County Courthouse and then for private law firms in Edwardsville, Illinois. She grew up singing in church where she also accompanied the congregation on the piano and led the children’s choir. As she got older, the phrase she uttered all day long was, “Praise the Lord” and the scripture she wanted us all to live by was, “Love one another.” Kay leaves behind the most important things in her life: a daughter, son, brother, grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends. She was blessed to have been able to retire from working at an early age so that she could care for her grandsons full time and visit her granddaughters often. Her children and grandchildren were the lights of her life.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Fern Embrey, and her husband, D. Kent Trone.

She is survived and will be missed by her children, Christine (Scott) Stinnett of Fairview Heights, IL and Mark (Toni) Trone of Sudbury, MA; her grandchildren, Noah and Tanner Stinnett and Jordan and Lily Trone; her brother, Michael (Madeleine) Embrey of Glenwood, IN; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
