Obituary
Kathryn Mary Lanter, nee Schmelzel, age 91, of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at Maryville Manor Nursing Home, Maryville, Illinois.
Kathryn Mary was born January 10, 1913 in New Athens, Illinois to George and Elizabeth, nee Gilbert, Schmelzel.
Mrs. Lanter was a homemaker and a member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Frederick, Orlando, Washington, Herman, and Milton Schmelzel; and one sister, Amelia L. Maurerer.
She is survived by two sons, James (Joyce) Lanter of Virginia, and Thomas E. (Martha) Lanter of Portsmouth, New Hampshire; two daughters, Mary E. (Fred) Halde of Troy, Illinois, and Patricia K. (John) Armstrong of Oak Park, Michigan; six grandsons; five granddaughters; and 22 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
Visitation: Friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 am, Friday, January 16, 2004 at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, Illinois.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 am, Friday, January 16, 2004 at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Reverend Jeff Holtman officiating.
Interment: St. Agatha Catholic Cemetery, New Athens, Illinois.
