Madonna "Grandma June" Monroe, 90, of Highland, Ill., formerly of Elkhart, Ind., passed away Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.
Mrs. Monroe owned and operated Sautter Floral and Greenhouses in Elkhart, Ind. She taught adult floral design class at the Elkhart Career Center. She loved golfing and had two hole-in-ones. She loved quilting, cross stitch and any crafts. She had recently moved to Highland, Ill., from Elkhart, Ind., to be with her family. While here she enjoyed spending time and helping out at her granddaughter, Cathy Gilomen's It's a Piece of Cake Bakery in St. Jacob, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse James Monroe; a son, Richard Sautter; and her parents, Henry and Treva, nee Withiam, Messner.
Surviving are her son, Ted (Katie) Sautter of Elkhart, Ind.; stepsons, Dennis (Diana) Monroe of Goodyear, Ariz., and Kit (Marsha) Monroe of Elkhart, Ind.; grandchildren, Cathy Gilomen of St. Jacob, Ill., Melinda (Galen) Albrecht of Bay City, Mich., and Todd (Holly) Sautter of Leesburg, Ind.; step-grandchildren, Paige Moody, Laura Nichols and Michell Rowan; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Gerry) Messner of Maple Grove, Minn.; and a very special friend, Maryellen Suatter of Highland, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 W. Franklin St., Elkhart, Ind.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Central Christian Church, Elkhart, Ind., with Rev. Dr. Mike Wills officiating. Burial will be at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart, Ind.
