Judy Mae Hawkins, age 60, of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away February 21, 2004.
Judy was born March 4, 1943 in Perryville, Missouri to Thomas F. and Lavern I. (nee Colin) Abernathy. She married Robert Hawkins on November 17, 1983. Mrs. Hawkins was the owner and operator of Town & Country Dry Cleaners in Troy, Illinois. Judy was gifted in many ways, especially sewing, cooking and making crafts. She was a wonderful "People Person," who enjoyed watching birds, and who loved all animals, especially her dog and cat.
Judy is survived by her husband, Bob; one son James L. Basler and one daughter, Melissa Mary Basler; three step-daughters, Peggy Hawkins, Patty Hawkins, and Pam Arnet; three brothers, Robert, Tom and Dan Abernathy; and one sister, Joyce Mehrer. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, of whom she dearly loved, Lindsey, D.J., Zachary, Katie, Amy, Hannah, Jacob, and Shelby. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roy Abernathy.
Visitation: 5:00 - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at Laughlin Funeral Home.
Funeral Services: 10:00 am, Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at Laughlin Funeral Home.
Interment: Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Edwardsville, Illinois
Because of Judy's love of animals, Memorials may be made to the Metro East Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
